Ravioli

Ravioli, a cute 18-week-old boxer mix, was turned over to the Friendship APL after sustaining unknown trauma to her mouth. Her face was swollen and injured and she was in obvious pain. The kind people at the APL brought her to the Animal Emergency and Specialty Center to have her treated. She was given pain medication and IV fluids overnight and X-rays were done to diagnose the reason for her pain and swelling. The radiographs revealed that Ravioli?s jaw was fractured in multiple places.

Dr. Alsup placed 2 wires in Ravioli?s jaw to stabilize and realign her fractures. She did great during the procedure and everything went as planned. Ravioli recovered well from anesthesia and stayed another night in the hospital receiving pain medication and antibiotics. A few hours after surgery, she was even able to lap up some soft food that was offered to her by the technicians at the clinic. Ravioli must wear a custom muzzle until her fracture is completely healed but is still able to bark, eat and drink. Thanks to the Friendship APL and Dr. Alsup and staff at the Animal Emergency and Specialty Center, she is quickly returning to life as a normal puppy.
